Pay Attention to These Signs
Your brake system just doesn’t decide one day to not work. There are warning signs leading up to the point where you need new brakes to ensure safety when braking. These signs should not be ignored.
Noises When Braking – If you hear noises such as grinding and squealing when you brake, you need to have your brake system inspected. These unexpected odd sounds may be connected to worn-out brake pads, brake fluid loss, or damaged rotors.
Vibrations – When you step on the brake pedal, there should be a smooth transition to stopping as well as a firm feeling as the brake pedal is pressed harder. If you do not feel that firm traction or the pedal goes almost to the floor, your brake pads are more than likely wearing out. The same goes for feeling a vibration when braking. This could be caused by uneven wear on the rotors. Sometimes the rotors can be turned to get more wear from them. Other times, they need to be completely replaced. This can be costly. Whether your vehicle needs new brake pads, rotors turned, or just an inspection, the mechanics at Uptown Imports can do it all.
Car Pulling to One Side – Even though there are several reasons why a car will pull to one side, unevenly worn brake pads is one cause of concern. A stuck caliper could be the source for the uneven wear on the brake pads because it applies friction to one wheel and not the others. As a result, the vehicle pulls to one side. If you feel your car pulling to one side or another, don’t ignore it. There could be several reasons why you are experiencing pulling, some not related to the brakes at all.
If you encounter any of these warning signs, don’t hesitate in bringing your vehicle to Uptown Imports immediately to avoid more costly repairs.
